And by the end of this guide, you’ll know how to make videos that look so good, that your friends and followers will wonder how you did it Ready? Let’s get started!
Step 1: Writing the Script
First, every great video needs a great story. And guess what? You don’t need to be a professional writer to come up with one. We’re going to use ChatGPT to generate ideas for our script.
Here’s how you can get started: Go to ChatGPT and type a prompt, like “Create 50 story ideas for short horror films” and ChatGPT will give you a few ideas. Pick one you like, and then you have to create a full script based on that idea.
Once you have your story idea, ask ChatGPT to turn that into a visual storyboard with clear image prompts. This will allow us to create consistent, high-quality animations later on.
Your script is the foundation of your video. It helps you plan everything, from the images you’ll need to the words you’ll say. With ChatGPT, you can save time and get creative ideas fast!
But there’s one problem. When using AI-generated ideas, you might find that the character details are inconsistent. In our story, we have the main characters, but what do they look like in every scene? To solve this, we need to create a consistent character design.
Step 2: Creating Consistent Characters
This is where we make sure our video has a professional touch. After choosing the story idea, open an image generator like Bing Image Generator to bring your characters to life. However, as you’ll see, AI doesn’t always generate characters consistently. So, we need to keep the character design the same across different scenes.
You can do this in two methods. First, you can Search for AI cartoon images, find a character design you like, and upload it to ChatGPT. Ask ChatGPT to write a detailed description of your character, including things like facial features, clothing, and accessories. This is key to making sure your character stays consistent across all frames.
Another method is you describe your character in detail. What color are their clothes? Do they have short or long hair? Once you’ve got the details, you can use an AI image generator to create characters that look the same in every scene.
For example, if your character has red hair and wears glasses, you’ll want to make sure they look that way in every picture you use in your video.
Consistency is key. When your characters look the same, your video feels more professional, and your audience won’t get confused or distracted.
Step 3: Generating Story Prompts
Now that you have your consistent character, it’s time to generate prompts for each scene of your story.
So take that character description and incorporate it into your image generation prompts. This ensures every image you generate is aligned with your character, and that your video has a smooth, professional look.
This ensures your character remains the same and the storyline stays coherent. Be sure to check every prompt carefully. Inconsistent prompts can easily ruin the flow of your video, so make sure every scene features the right character details, like skin tone, clothing, and hairstyle.
Step 4: Converting Text to Images
Once your prompts are ready, Use an AI image generator, like Leonardo AI, Cray AI, or Bing Image Creator, to turn your story into visuals. In this video, I will show you how to use Leonardo AI and Bing Image Creator.
First, go to the Leonardo Ai. Click the link in the description to log into Leonardo AI with your Google account. Once you’re in, you’ll be taken to the image generation section. Just paste the prompt you got from ChatGPT and hit ‘Generate.’ The tool will give you four unique images each time.
If you like one image but want to recreate or modify it later, you can copy the ‘Seed’ number. This allows you to keep the style and consistency across multiple images.
Once you have your seed, scroll to the Advanced Settings on the left, paste the seed number, and generate your next image. Leonardo AI’s free version gives you 150 tokens daily, and you can create plenty of images before needing an upgrade.
Use the image prompts you generated earlier and let the AI create vivid, high-quality visuals for each scene in your story. Make sure to double-check that your character details are correct in each image to maintain that consistency.
Next, search for “Bing Image Creator” or use the link in the description to find it. Once you’re there, log in using your Microsoft account.
Next, you’ll see a box where you can type in your idea. This is where you put the text prompt you’ve prepared from ChatGPT. After typing it in, just click the ‘Create’ button, and Bing Image Creator will make four different images for you to pick from.
If you want to resize the image, click on the image, then select ‘resize.’ Choose the size you want and click ‘download to save the image.
Step 5: Turning Images into Videos
Now it’s time to turn those images into an actual video. For this, I recommend using a tool like Runway ML. It’s easy to use, and you can create stunning video sequences in no time.
Go to Runway ML using the link in the description and sign up with your Google account. Once you’re on the dashboard, click on “Generative Video.
Now, upload your image and write a description of the shot you want below it. Then, choose how long you want the video to be and click “Generate.”
In just a few clicks, you’ll have a smooth, animated video.
Keep in mind, this process might take some time. If you run into any errors, don’t worry—just keep trying. In the end, your persistence will pay off, and you’ll have your video.
Step 6: Adding Voiceovers and Sound Effects
A video without a voice is like a car without fuel—it won’t go far. You can add a voiceover by using AI text-to-speech tools like Runway ML, or even record your own voice and sync it with the visuals.
If you choose AI, paste your script into the tool, select a voice that fits the tone of your video, and it will read your script for you. Or, if you want it to feel more personal, record your voice on your phone or microphone, then add it to the video.
A voiceover makes your video feel complete and keeps your audience engaged. If you’re shy about recording your own voice, the AI tool will make it easy to get a natural-sounding voiceover.
Step 7: Final Editing and Finishing Touches
Finally, it’s time to put it all together. Use a free video editor like CapCut to combine your images, voiceovers, and sound effects. During editing, pay close attention to small details.
For example, if your scene features a character walking through a village, adding the sound of footsteps and background noise will make it feel more real and immersive.
This is what makes your video stand out. You can add background music, adjust the timing of your scenes, and ensure the pacing keeps your audience engaged from start to finish.
So, now you know how to create a fully animated video using free AI tools. From writing a script to generating images, turning them into video, and adding voiceovers—it’s all easy, fast, and free.
